Let's Talk Headpieces!!

Hey guys see I didn't take too long this time! I a here with another blog post with deets from my blackly black wedding and where you can get them as well. Today's blog will be about headpieces and where you can get them. The thing I love about headpieces is that though they are a small piece they can change your entire look. If you don't want a veil well a dope headpiece is an addition that will be a great addition. I had several for my two day wedding and all other wedding actives and they are all from black owned brands.

Bridals by Oprah Johnson

Bridals by Oprah is a Nigerian based brand that I discovered while in a bridal group on facebook. Another bride posted a dope crown and I fell in love. I originally reached out to Bridals by Oprah earlier this year and the process was super easy and she was extremely helpful. I sent her a picture of the pieces she had available that I liked. I asked her about payment options and she let me know that she took PayPal to make it convinent for her international shoppers. This was something that I loved because I knew that I was going to share and this option was great for my nonNigerian followers who don't do business in Nigeria.

She made everything so easy and even made suggestions. Crazy enough I didn't reach out for a crown because my original dress didn't call for it (that's a different story we will talk about later).

I actually originally bought three pieces (one of which I used for our Courthouse shoot seen below) for myself and the hairpins that my flower girls had in their hair. This headpiece on the right was originally for one of my wedding day looks I had planned. Yet when I decided to do my boudoir shoot I knew that this would be a dope addition to my looks. It was simple and I could easily match with earrings I grabbed from another brand.

When I changed my wedding dress and reached out again asking her for some help on what she thought would look good with my new dress. I told her I wanted my headpiece to be different than anything anyone had this year. She quickly came back with the crown below and I fell in love. She ensured it was packaged safely and included extra gems just incase any fell out. My headpieces from her were all just so unique and all affordable. AI and Eva

Ai & Eva is an online jewelry store based in Atlanta, Georgia. Their name comes from Ai and Eva Dixie the late great grandparents of owner Patrice Morgan. The brand was started in 2019 based on Patrice's personal experience as a bride. She knew that brides like her wanted fashion forward accessories without breaking the bank or having to go to different stores.

Like with Bridals by Oprah I also discovered @aiandeva via a bridal group when I requested black owned jewelry brand. I originally contacted her about jewelry for my mom and mother in law. Not only did she help me find beautiful pieces for them but she also helped me source the beautiful earrings that my bridesmaids wore. Later while planning my boudoir shoot I knew I needed another piece so I grabbed this beauty called Lovely as well as the "Whitney Earrings" . I want to point out that Patrice is one of the easiest to work with vendors. She is so patient and she ensures that she gives you as many tips as she can. She also tries to make sure that she doesn't overwhelm you with items. OOH lets not forget she takes Quad Pay!! So you can grab all you need and pay over time.

SuReina Bridal

SuReina is a black owned brand that I discovered via instagram last year when I originally started planning the wedding. I actually purchased a gold headpiece from her that I used for my birthday shoot as well as a product shoot.

@su.reina.bridal was started a few years a go with the vision of giving brides the access to Luxury, glamor, and glitz at an affordable price. Giving brides access to a Vendor who would ensure that all items were delivered in a timely manner with love.

As with the other brands when I reached out and let her know my vision. The headpiece would be for my reception look which was a gold beaded dress. Mind you the week before my wedding was a mess and I was super stressed due to so many things going wrong(look out for that story time). Yet my last minute movement of getting this headpiece was something that came with ease. She ensured that my mind was at ease when it came to this process and I had it in time for my big day. I am forever thankful and grateful to her for her help. It goes a long way when people care about your day as much as you do! SuReina is a vendor who genuinely cares about her brand and her clients!

Fedora Hats and Bridal

This look is more so for my Brides who are looking to do coral beads in their hair. Coral hair beads are mostly seen by South Eastern Nigerian Brides like myself. I knew from the beginning that I did not want to wear gele( Head wrap) I wanted to wear the head beads for my igbo bride look (I also wore full Kalabari(Ijaw) attire as well).

I found @fedorahatsnbridal again via Instagram due to a photo that was posted by a Igbo bride page and the beads were fire. I reached out to her and sent her a picture of what I envisioned for my look. She took the time to explain to me that the headpiece I had sent wasn't a solid one piece. She explained to me exactly how it was created and how she would create these beads. She then took the time to tell me what exactly to tell my hairstylist to do to ensure we achieved my desired look. I chose to have the piece delivered to my sister in Nigeria due to me having other things sent to me. She ensured that my beads were packaged into a keepsake box and she included a dust cover. She is Nigerian based vendor and I first hand endorse her. Though my beads were not shipped via her she does ship worldwide.

Pink Perfection Accessories

Our last vendor is another Nigerian based brand that as all the others discovered via instagram. I actually discovered this page through a friend of mine because I asked her for places for accessories. She then directed me to @pinkperfection_accessories

I actually originally was in search for my clutch for my last look for my traditional attire. I ended up purchasing several pieces from them. One of them was my headpiece for my last look for my traditional wedding. They were super friendly and helped show me all the items I asked them about. They like the previous vendor sent my items to myself sister but they do ship worldwide as well.

All of these brands were nothing short of amazing during my planning process. They were helpful, kind, and worked with my timeline and my budget! As a bride I needed all those qualities from my vendors.

I hope these help you find all you need for your beautiful look on your special day. As always remember take care of yourself and those that you Love. Stay safe and continue to pour into our community, love yourself and protect your peace!

Love your Favorite,
